What to Bring?
Orange County Treatment clients are advised to pack as if they are going on a three-week vacation. The dynamic coastal city of Huntington Beach has a sunny Mediterranean climate with an average temperature of 72 degrees. Temperatures are cooler at night. It is best to leave valuables at home. Following are examples of items to bring:
- Medical and RX insurance card
- Casual clothes
- Jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt
- Gym clothes and bag
- Walking shoes and sandals
- Night clothing
- Undergarments
- All toiletries (blow dryer, shampoo, toothbrush, soap, make-up, etc...)
- iPods with earphones
Dress Code
All guests must dress appropriately. Inappropriate dress includes wearing of undergarments only, sleepwear, low-rise pants or shorts with underwear showing, and provocative clothing. Shoes must be worn at all times, and billed hats must be on straight.
What not to Bring?
Please do not bring any medication not approved or without prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, furniture, desktop computers, alcohol-based mouthwash, or any other items containing alcohol.
What is Provided by OCT in the Residences?
All residences have a house parent and are equipped with phones, cable TV, internet access, cooking utensils, dishware and a washer and dryer. Clients are responsible for keeping the house clean. Each guest is assigned daily chores and beds must be made upon awakening. Headphones are required when using radios or iPODs, and TV's are not to be used for gaming. Smoking is never permitted in the house or garage.
Each resident is given the following items:
- Bed linens
- Comforter
- Pillows
- Bath towels
- Laundry baskets
- Hangers
- Alarm clock
- A key to the house (unless in primary)
What about Food/Meals?
Some house food is provided, and a weekly food allowance is given in the form of a food card. The food card allowance teaches life skills such as responsibility, budgeting, and meal planning. Guests are encouraged to enjoy meals together.
What is Money on the Books (MOB)?
Money on Books are for personal expenses not included in treatment fees. It is suggested that residents have at least $1500 on the books upon entry. Examples of what funds cover:
- Detoxification fees
- Medications
- Activity fees
- Allowance
- Personal Services (hair cut, nails, etc.)
- Extra therapy sessions or doctor appointments
Are Residents Allowed to Have Visitors?
Visitation is restricted in Phase I of treatment; however, visitors are allowed with approval from the clinical team.
What is the Computer Policy?
Laptops are allowed after the first 30 days and must be approved by the clinical team.
Are Residents Allowed to make Phone Calls?
Cell phones are not allowed in Phase I of treatment. All phones must be turned off during treatment groups and meetings. Phones can be taken away for non-compliance.
What is a Pass?
A pass is an overnight stay outside of Orange County Treatment's facility. A pass is allowed only after completing Phase I and must be approved by the clinical team.
How to send Mail and Packages?
Guests may receive mail after arrival. Jail mail is not accepted. All packages are inspected. The following address can be used:

What is our Policy in regard to Insurance?
We do not accept insurance as payment and are not responsible for billing your insurance company. We will provide a letter of completion of treatment services. All insurance coverage should be arranged prior to admission. All guests should bring their insurance cards for medication coverage.
